How to Modernise Your Business Phone System While Keeping Your Company

Reliable communication has always been key to a successful business, but as society becomes more reliant on technology, now more than ever it is vital to have dependable communication systems. So, if you are looking to find out how to modernise your business phone system, let us take a look at some of the ways you can do so, whilst keeping your company’s existing phone number.

Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) systems

Unified communication systems like VoIP allow businesses to integrate all of their systems onto a single platform hosted in the cloud.

Unified communications software, such as business phone systems by Gamma, boast a hosted communications service that delivers businesses with vast fixed and mobile telephony facilities. All of these services are accessed via an easy-to-use web portal that allows you to take control of your systems however you like.

The majority of VoIP providers allow you to keep your old number by porting it to the cloud. Plus, most apps and software require you to register and sign in on the app, so an existing phone number isn’t always necessary.

The main benefit of modernising your phone system to a VoIP system is that it’s instantly accessible to employees, whether they’re working from home, in the office, or somewhere else entirely. This system also saves businesses money and a lot of time otherwise spent training staff to use various other communication systems.

Hosted and On-Premises Private Branch Exchange (PBX) systems

With this system, every person in a business can have their own direct-dial number complete with voicemail inbox. Linking directly to the database, the system will ensure that customers’ names are displayed when they call. What’s more, instant messaging and conferencing options can also be added to the system, bettering communication even more.

Much like with VoIP systems, with hosted PBX you can port your number to the cloud, eliminating the need to switch any of your phone numbers.

One of the reasons this is a great option is because it allows you to take calls when you’re outside of the office by redirecting office calls to your smartphone. So as long as you have an internet connection, you can take calls anywhere, and so you will never have to worry about missing any important calls or opportunities. Also, if employees need to make costly international calls, they can do so without having to worry about the price!

Mobile-based systems

One of the simpler business phone systems you can implement is a mobile based system. This is like a standard mobile contract where you get a handset with the usual WiFi and data calling. However, with this system you can make use of mobile apps and online portals that give you access to all of your business call information.

Much like with the other systems, mobile-based systems allow calls to be taken out of the office and are a cheap alternative to standard communication systems. Phone numbers can be simply transferred over via a free PAC code you can receive via text message.

As you can see, there are various ways to modernise your business phone system while keeping your company\’s existing phone number. Whilst this article shows the most common ways, if you do a little bit of research there are others out there, too.
