Q1 2022

18 | Q1 2022 Nov21279 Leading Pioneers of AI-Driven Engineering Solutions 2021 Aventus AI is set to disrupt the digital twin, asset integrity and engineering software development markets with their data architecture design and prediction analytical modelling platform, called Aurora AI. Developed to eliminate critical equipment failures, meet net zero carbon targets, reduce operating costs and extend asset life in high-risk process industrial, and domestic smart city applications. Aventus AI is a new business to business company that has designed its Aurora products and services package that addresses the problems that enables industries and smart cities to run at optimum efficiency and achieve net-zero carbon targets by creating holistic, hybrid digital twins with integrated AI and machine learning. Ecosystem Business Model Aventus AI is a company at the centre of a high performing Ecosystem business model that is proving to enhance performance, accelerate innovation, drive transformational growth, and is their strategic imperative to drive client value. Aventus AI have 56 ecosystem partners to date, including incredibly talented individuals, high tech start-ups and international corporations. On average, high-performing ecosystems drive 1.5 times the cost reduction, contribute 1.5 times more to annual revenue, and achieve 2.1 times the incremental revenue growth. Problems Solved The rationale behind the company’s initial inception was to address the issue that industrial assets have high failure rates which result in downtime and risk of major accidents. Improving failure rates is difficult because of poor data structure, which disables reliable analytics. CAD (Computer Aided Design) drawings for high precision engineering are often incomplete, with a poor understanding of how and why failures manifest. This makes it difficult to design an IoT (Internet of Things) sensor structure which can help. Additionally, prohibitive costs of installing monitoring systems result in ineffective designs and poor operation, creating potential vulnerability to major accident hazards and exposure to litigation. These prohibitive costs lead to poor emissions control and lack of overall practices that reduce carbon footprint. Proprietary Technology & Value Proposition Aurora, is their AI Engineering design platform developed to rebuild asset data architecture, design the critical equipment IoT sensor packages, develop innovative AI (Artificial Intelligence) technology and machine learning for reliability, using a data driven prognostics and health management approach. Aurora develops algorithms are built into a hardware architecture that uses Edge cloud computing power to calculate remaining useful life predictions and perform other critical analytics real-time. By optimising the design, collection, and use of industrial sensor data, Aventus AI produces accurate, industry-leading failure detection and prediction processes. Aventus AI addresses these issues by implicitly understanding where the problems are, designing IoT sensor packages, creating machine learning failure detection algorithms and building AI hardware units for every piece of critical equipment involved in the process. The company makes sense of its clients’ IoT data through designing AI and predictive digital twin hybrids that allow the IoT to deliver data-driven solutions. With this Aventus AI enables unparalleled levels of asset integrity and reliability, sustainability, net-zero carbon target achievement, pandemic monitoring, and management, enhancing quality of life and helping bolster local and national economies. They use a SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) system that gathers real-time telemetry data, which is initially processed in-situ using artificial intelligence and edge computing technology. Added prognostic, diagnostic and multi-physics processing delivers failure mode predictions which can be visualised within the 3D digital twin environment and/or custom dashboards. These predictions can be used to start preventive action before failure occurs, essentially eliminating actual failure. Traction To Date With wide ranging engineering, aerospace and geoscience expertise, the Aventus leadership team can take a truly holistic approach to complex technical problems. The organisation’s R&D arm has been developing its products and services with academia, including, Glasgow Caledonian University, Robert Gordon’s University (Aberdeen), Heriot-Watt University (Edinburgh), CALCE Prognostic at Maryland University (USA) and now we are looking forward to a long working partnership with the Edinburgh University Bayes Centre. Recently identified as an exciting young AI company for investment readiness and scale up development by Edinburgh University’s Bayes Centre, they were inducted into the 2021 AI Business Accelerator, where early revenue startups are developed for investment and scale up. Simultaneously Aventus AI were recognised by the UKSA (UK Space Association) and awarded a position on their 2021 Space Accelerator Leo Programme, where they will be looking for further investment to integrate satellite data into their Ai and machine learning package.
