Q2 2023

Venters Solicitors was founded in 1991 by June Venters KC who had a vision and passion to build a law firm whose foundations lay in access to justice for all. Over 30 years later, the principles of justice and a fearless approach to representing clients remain the bedrock values of the firm. Now recognised as Family Law Specialists of the Year 2023 – London in this issue of SME News magazine, we learn more. Making UK Legal History Venters Solicitors specialises exclusively in family law and criminal cases that have family, spousal, or children matters at the heart of them. Since 2007, the firm has also provided family meditation service. Founding Partner, June Venters KC holds a unique place in UK legal history as being the first female solicitor to be appointed Queen’s Counsel (now referred to as King’s Counsel). June is also a qualified barrister, which makes Venters Solicitors the only firm in the country that is led and managed by a dual qualified barrister and practising KC. Her influence and expertise ensure exceptional client outcomes. Venters Solicitors has grown to a team of over 30 solicitors, legal executives, paralegals, and support staff, with June Venters KC remaining a pivotal presence in the firm. With offices in London and Reigate Surrey, the firm is a dynamic presence in the south and south east, and has multiple award-wins, short listings, and accreditations in recognition of the excellent work being done on behalf of clients. The firm is uncompromising when it comes to representing its clients with integrity and empathy. No two cases are ever the same and the team recognise the important role solicitors play in helping clients to resolve their legal case in order to move forward in life. Many clients choose to keep in touch with the firm long after their case has concluded, sharing special family moments, or how their life has changed for the better following the conclusion of their case. The bulk of their cases are referred to them on recommendation. Legal Excellence There is a focus at the firm on delivering legal advice and representation of the highest calibre. This approach means that it attracts exceptional solicitors and lawyers to join its team, many of whom are routinely involved in high-profile cases. Venters Solicitors is committed to investing in accreditations and qualifications for members of its team. This is evidenced by the fact that the majority of its lawyers are either Resolution Accredited specialists in areas such as private law children, domestic abuse, child abduction and advocacy, or they have been appointed to the Children Panel, the Family Law Panel, and the advanced Family Law Panel. It has one of the youngest solicitors to be appointed onto the Resolution Accredited Specialists, and who also finished in the top three of her cohort. Once qualified, junior solicitors are actively encouraged to progress their careers within the firm. There is a clear career progression structure, and this year, one of its associates has been promoted to partner, making her its seventh partner of an all-female partnership. Compassionate, knowledgeable and highlyeffective, the team at Venters Solicitors is routinely recognised for its work. Recent award short listings include the ‘Client Care Award’ at the Modern Law Awards and ‘Case of the Year’ at the Lexis Nexis Awards. In addition, Partner Reena Patel was a finalist at the International Women, Influence, and Power In Law UK Awards. In 2022, Venters Solicitors won in the ‘Private Client Team of the Year’ category at the British Legal Awards. Venters Solicitors has a reputation for achieving outstanding results in hugely complex and fraught child custody and contact matters that have often been ongoing for several years. When it comes to divorce and separation, the team harness legal knowledge with strategic thinking and empathy to secure favourable outcomes. They pride themselves on being highly capable and effective negotiators, and stand shoulder-to-shoulder with clients on their case. Mediation and Arbitration As the Government continues to explore ways to remove the need for court and judicial intervention to resolve family disputes, there is an increasing emphasis on the use of mediation and arbitration. Venters Solicitors has qualified mediators who can provide this service from venues additional to its offices. For more information, visit the ‘Mediation and Arbitration’ page on the firm’s website.
