We speak to passionate founder, Mital Thanki, about her life-long mission to empower the younger generation. Founder and chief executive officer, Mital Thanki, has an expert knowledge of science having studied pharmacology at the University of Leicester, then going on to obtain her PGCE at the University of Nottingham. After she became a qualified chemistry teacher, she decided to start her own private tutoring business and Spark Academy was born. Now, Spark Academy has now gained national recognition and is regularly compared with market-leading learning providers. As well as becoming known as an innovator in the private tuition field, Mital has won a suite of awards, including East Midlands Chamber 2020 Entrepreneur of the Year. It is also very unique in the way that its programme incorporates academic and well-being elements. “It’s not very known for tuition providers to have an inclusive programme such as this and we offer complementary Transformative Life Skills lessons to all of our students. Our administrator holds the fort together and there is real value in the work she does.” Regarding the future, Mital is confident that further growth is on the horizon and has plans to reach out to more students nationwide, as opposed to just in the Leicestershire area. She is also exploring the option of helping schools to implement the learning management systems that Spark Academy benefits from as they can help schools to deliver a blended learning methodology.
