UK Enterprise 2020

131 | UK Enterprise Awards 2020 HES (Highland Electrical Services) Ltd, an Electrical Contracting business operating across Scotland, were the worthy winners of the Electrical Contractor of the Year Award at the UK Enterprise Awards 2020 held earlier this year. We took a closer look at the company to find out more. Electrical Contractor of the Year 2020 – North East Scotland: HES (Highland Electrical Services) Established in 2018, HES (Highland Electrical Services) Ltd is a small but promising electrical contracting business based in Inverness and operating across Scotland, specialising in Industrial and Commercial Electrical Installation and Maintenance Services across a diverse range of sectors such as manufacturing, hospitality, water, transport and pharmaceuticals. This young company has committed itself to delivering service of the highest quality to its customers, by offering a skilled team of electricians who are driven and experienced in commercial and industrial electrical installations and environments. Despite being a company made up of only seven, it is their expertise in industrial and commercial installation work that creates repeat business from some of the leading companies in the North of Scotland, such as Norbord and Lifescan, leaders of the manufacturing and production sectors. HES prioritises establishing long-term relationships with each of their clients, in order to deliver a consistently high level of care, service and support. Clients have complete peace of mind knowing that HES is committed to promoting high standards with regards to quality of workmanship and health and safety, and all projects are completed safely to agreed timescales, and with no hidden costs. It is by investing time and training into their small but effective team that HES is able to reassure customers of a high standard in all their services. It is their hard working staff that creates an enjoyable and positive working environment, and HES recognises that in order for a company to achieve continued growth and success, they must make conscientious efforts to support the development and wellbeing of each individual team member. It is the collaborative effort of these highly motivated individuals, who work together as well as they work individually, that creates an experienced and competent team, that represents the high standards offered by the company. Over the last twelve months, the team has grown from four to seven, with the addition of an electrical apprentice, even despite the current economic challenges presented by the Covid-19 pandemic. HES firmly believes in the promotion and support of electrical apprentices who represent the next generation of electricians. HES does not just rely on their own team, and approximately 70% of their business is working with local building contractors to deliver on a wide range of projects and improvements. Just as when recruiting for the team, HES ensures that all the contractors they work with are just as motivated and driven as they are, in order to ensure that their high standards are never jeopardised. So, what’s next for HES? As the business continues to recruit electricians and apprentices, HES is expecting to continue its current growth over the next twelve months, as they have already secured Jul20451 works for the coming year, and are planning to increase its presence and delivery of Turn Key projects across the North of Scotland. HES’s customer reach is also expanding, extending into Northern Ireland and much further afield. As the company’s client base expands, HES is also seeing exciting developments in its own services, as it evolves to maintain the quality and range of services available. Specialist services such as Renewable Energy, Hazardous Area Installations and Control Panel Building & PLC Programming are the most prominent amongst their plans for the future. With ambitious plans and exciting projects in place for the next twelve months, we are looking forward to seeing HES as it grows from strength to strength.
