Catering to both children and adults, Anneka’s Angels covers a plethora of areas, including learning disabilities, physical disabilities, psychological disorders, and brain injuries, to name a few. Prior to creating Anneka’s Angels, Anneka spent three years working as a childminder, she also developed her skills working in care homes, private and public hospitals, mental health units, and more. Simply put, her background is highly diverse and unique. She is willing to go wherever her work takes her, even if it leads her overseas, and is happy to undertake excursions to theatres, cinemas, or wherever the client wishes to go. Prior to such trips, Anneka makes a list with each individual child/adult of things they like to do and places they like to visit. Further, she possesses an adult and paediatric first aid certificate, food hygiene certificate, is registered with OFSTED and is trained in management of violence and aggression. Anneka also took further training in caring for twin and triplet infants at home, alongside breast feeding training to further help and support mothers at home. She also took an extra sleep training course to help teach and guide patients on how to enable their children to sleep through the night, and not cause unneeded disruption. During the height of the COVID-19 pandemic Anneka chose to open up her services to home care. This meant that instead of clients coming to her, she was able to visit them, thereby reducing the risk of stress, anxiety, or contracting the virus. Furthermore, the outbreak led to an influx of inquiries for Anneka’s Angels’ services. The pandemic emphasised the need for respite care: families and individuals worked around the clock to provide care for their loved ones whilst further isolating themselves due to the rising risk of transmission. To meet the increased demand, Anneka’s Angels has a number of plans in place for the end of 2022 and beyond. Anneka is looking into purchasing a bigger property, from where she will be able to provide respite care in a fully adapted residence. She hopes to include a sensory room, cinema room, outdoor play area, and perhaps even a swimming pool. The aforementioned additions would provide an even greater experience for Anneka’s Angels’ clients, as many are limited with activities because of societal stereotypes and judgement.
