We find out more from Managing Director, Chris Wilkinson, as the firm celebrates the achievement of a UK Enterprise Award. Established in early 2012 by Chris Wilkinson, Expert HR Solutions Ltd initially provided HR support and employment law advice to small and medium sized businesses in and around Dorset. In early 2017 Moira Brown, Chartered FCIPD, joined Chris as a Co-Director. “Our core value has always been service excellence,” Chris explains. “We also strive to provide honest, professional and pragmatic advice.” Expert HR Solutions differs from competitors having always used an independent company to survey its clients using the Net Promoter Score system and Chris tells us that not only has the score increased year on year from a low of 87% to a stellar 100% last year, but the response rate is an average of 45%. “We believe this improvement is because we ask what has been the best and worst about working with us, and we try to improve on both!” Impressively, the net consequence is that for retained clients, excluding those that have ceased trading for whatever reason, client retention is an impressive 98%. Chris shares, “Repeat business from non-retained clients is high, and many of our corporate projects have been extended beyond the original scope.” The last two years have been tumultuous to say the least – the initial impact of the Covid-19 pandemic meant that the Company saw a massive increase in enquiries as to what the new legislation meant to employees and employers. “To deal with this we teamed up with Clive Thorp the owner of CT Health and Safety Limited to be able to offer a one stop shop for both the building and Employee Health and Safety Risk Assessments that were needed relating specifically to Covid-19,” Chris elaborates. “This opened up a new market for us with London Embassies. That was followed with numerous enquiries about the implications of furlough and sadly a few businesses deciding they could not survive, so we assisted with redundancy campaigns.” As we all know, Covid-19 resulted in a significant increase in the use of video conference calls across all aspects of business. For Expert HR Solutions it made the team realise that they could offer services to a much broader geographic area than the original concept of only serving the immediate area. Now, with clients in Greater Manchester, London, and many other parts of England and Wales, Expert HR Solutions is expecting further growth of around 25% year on year. Although it primarily support SMEs, the firm has expanded into the larger employer sector to work on complex change programmes, restructuring, and TUPE transfers. “We do believe that UK businesses in general and SMEs in particular want to operate not only within the law, but also want to do the best they can for their employees.
