Originally formed in 2015, the firm was taken over last year, as the owners retired, by Gail Stephenson and her friend who decided to join forces and go into business together. Specialising in the design, supply, and installation of kitchens and bathrooms, the small showroom stocks a wide variety of different products to suit all requirements and budgets. Michael Arthur’s ethos is based around family values and it likes to extend this to its dedicated staff members too, making them feel like part of the family. “We are flexible around working hours and like to make sure that our staff have a good work/ life balance,” Gail elaborates. “Our staff receive training on our systems and products to make sure that they can always advise and design the perfect space for our clients.” Recently, in recognition of its hard work, dedication, and commitment to both its clients and staff, Michael Athur was named in the prestigious Midlands Enterprise Awards as Best Kitchen Retailer 2023 – Derbyshire, a muchcoveted accolade of which Gail and the team have been understandably delighted to receive. Now, as the future beckons, things are looking positive for the small firm, with plans for expanding its services further afield with a new showroom in nearby Ashbourne, and the onboarding of new employees as the business enjoys a period of growth.
