We find out more about the family-run firm, and its standout bestseller, in light of its recognition in the Northern Enterprise Awards 2022. Based in Yorkshire, close to Leeds and Bradford airport, is RP Motorhomes, a company specialising in Mercedes-Benz panel van conversions. And what better location could there be to test out the ultimate in premium off-grid living? The firm was founded by Steve Young who sought to produce a luxury, space-saving yet sporty and eye-catching vehicle for family recreational sports and living. Finding nothing in existence to properly match his and his family’s needs, he embarked on creating his own, featuring everything he desired for a luxurious life on the road, and the RP Motorhomes brand was born. With family values and happy customers at the centre of its core beliefs, RP has now been providing the motorhome market with a range of exceptional leisure vehicles since 2014. Steve and the team’s passion for manufacturing only the very best has lead them to develop and produce a range of top-quality motorhomes that are, quite frankly, out of this world! “We build unique, bespoke adventure vehicles that are capable off-grid luxury living,” explains Jaye Young, the company director. “Each motorhome is built to be completely individual for the customer. They have a choice of finish and interior style, to make it personal to them. We thrive on giving our customers the ultimate in luxury travel with a taste of adventure!” Offering a variety of layout options and an extensive list of optional extras, the team will hold the hands of its clients throughout the process of tailor-making their motorhome to their specific requirements. Using the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter as the base for all of its vehicles, all motorhomes are fitted with smart electronics, lithium batteries, and finished to an exceptionally high standard. They all feature an ergonomically designed layout that is practical with a luxury finish, using only the best products, plus the company specialises in 4x4 overland motorhomes which can go off-road, off-grid, and travel where most motorhomes dare not go. Furthermore, all of RP’s motorhomes are fully winterised and can be used all year round thanks to innovative products within the industry to complement the finish and keep the weight down by using recycled plastic veneered panels. Further weight saving comes from the recycled plastic honeycomb sandwich that fills much of the furniture frames, whilst insulation made from XPS extruded polystyrene is used underfloor in all motorhome models, providing exceptional thermal performance, high compressive strength, and low water absorption for an outstanding floor insulation. “Underpinning everything we do at RP Motorhomes is the use of innovative design and technology and craftsmanship that excels in creativity and attention to detail,” Jaye elaborates. “Our van conversions don’t just look stunning from the outside and inside but impress at every level of scrutiny.” Perhaps its most impressive vehicle, and a firm bestseller, is the Rebellion 4 model. Never content to rest on previous success, Steve and the team have revamped the previous version to bring to the market the all-new off-grid vehicle for the adventurer who wants to enjoy the wilder side of life! Jaye continues, “We’ve re-imagined a design with the go-anywhere owner in mind and our elevated rear lounge with a double up and over door continues to be a favourite, with the considerable rear garage space and the airy cosy retreat.” The new for 2023 torque-on-demand All Wheel Drive system, reassuring and reliable Victron off-grid electrical systems, and the highest specification build RP has ever produced, means users need to be prepared to be amazed, charmed, and impressed in equal measure. But there’s more! Also coming 2023, RP has an all-electric habitation upgrade that removes the need for LPG altogether through an enhanced new future-proof electrical system. Additionally, an entirely more earthy solution for sanitation is possible with a composting toilet upgrade. “Our focus has always been the end user experience, so our innovation leads directly to improved ergonomics, efficiencies, and experience for our customers,” Jaye enthuses. “We take great pride in our design and build process, continually striving to provide innovation and exceptional attention to detail.” Indeed, it is the ‘little touches’ which help to make RP’s vans that little bit more premium than most, with thoughtful design features such as soft close cupboard latches, flush fit doors, and tactile work surfaces, really emphasising the luxury living aspect.
