Q3 2021

30 | Q3 2021 Jul21664 Fuel & Energy Training Provider of the Year 2021 Energy Development Services, winner of the Fuel and Energy Training Provider of the Year 2021, specialises in several fuel sectors’ training and valuation areas. The services EDS offer includes both domestic and commercial gas, OFTEC Oil, electrics, and water. The most recent addition to its selection is its renewable energy courses. Energy Development Services (EDS), established in 2009, is a reputable training and assessment centre in the Swindon area that specialises in domestic & commercial Gas, LPG, OFTEC Oil, unvented hot water, and solar thermal renewable energy awareness. With the disruption of Covid-19 affecting various businesses and industries, EDS states it is complying with social distancing recommendations and is operating with a reduction in class sizes to cooperate with government guidelines. EDS has said that if people within this industry have expired or expiring qualifications, it is crucial to book a place to renew those qualifications, significantly since class sizes are reduced, so limited spots are varied. To maintain a Gas Safe Registration, engineers must ensure that expired ACS credentials are renewed. However, engineers with ACS qualifications that expire before 1st October 2020, and have been unable to book ACS re-assessment, have been permitted to remain on the register. This is temporary permission for up to six months from the expiry date on their ACS certification, and arrangements for a re-assessment should be made during this time. Additionally, engineers with ACS qualifications expiring after 31st March 2021 will be required to renew ACS by the qualification expiry date as shown on the certificate. Engineers are advised to book ACS re-assessment in advance, as while most assessment centres are open and have availability, some are fully booked up two months in advance. Furthermore, EDS explains that engineers must maintain their Gas Safe Registration during any extension period applied due to ACS expiry during the pandemic if they are carrying out gas work. Extension of registration is a temporary measure that is regularly reviewed and does not remove the standing requirement for registered gas engineers to maintain their ACS certification and renew certification every five years. Overall, EDS provides training, information, education, and guidance at its assessment centre in Swindon. As EDS has recently won the award for Fuel & Energy Training Provider of the Year 2021 via the UK Enterprise Awards, it is currently undergoing several classes for those interested or in need of renewing or beginning ACS assessments. Other services offered by EDS include, but are not limited to the following: water regulations, initial domestic gas courses, water chlorination, commercial gas safety courses, oftec oil courses, energy efficiency, unvented domestic hot water systems and boiler fault findings.
