We find out more from Founder, Dexter Lawrence. Established in 2007, DL Accounts was incorporated in 2014 and today is an ever-growing team with offices in both St Austell and Nansledan, Newquay. As an 100% digital accounting firm, DL Accounts is a recognised leader in the new digital age and now boasts a strong client base of almost 600 from a variety of industries and sectors. Despite this, it is determined to remain a family-run firm, offering a more bespoke service to its clients embedded with real family values. “We pride ourselves on our proactive approach to meeting client needs, and excellent customer service delivery,” enthuses Dexter, the firm’s Founder and namesake. “Our team members bring a wealth of different skills, knowledge, and insights but with a common vision: to provide the same personable experience to all our customers regardless of size.” The firm offers a wide range of services via its suite of packages with the main aim being to take the stress out of client’s accounts and administrative requirements, helping them to navigate complex regulations and processes, and leaving clients time to do what they do best – which is run their businesses. “Our strategy for business growth and success is exceptional service through cloud-based digitisation, and always aspiring to be a leader not a follower,” states Dexter. “We provide our clients with an end-to-end service, adding value at each stage and striving to optimise the customer experience for each and every client.” The pandemic, although presenting challenges for many businesses, also came with distinct advantages. For DL Accounts it generated innovative ways of supporting clients, and offering continued support, especially with the current financial issues faced by numerous companies. DL Accounts’ client-centric approach seeks out software/apps that improve operational and financial efficiencies for both the firm and its clients. Software champions research best in breed software/apps, with individual client needs at the heart of decision-making, and the firm adds further value through numerous third-party apps. “Gone are the days of filling a bag with receipts and dropping it off!” Dexter enthuses. “It’s now all controlled via a simple app on clients’ mobile phones. All we ask any of our clients to do is take pictures of their expenses as soon as they get them. We can even do that for them, if they would like us to, then we do the rest – it’s that simple!” Not only that but bookkeeping, tax protection, advice and Xero software are also included as standard in all of DL Accounts’ packages, plus the company invoices monthly, with payments taken by direct debit, so there are no nasty surprises for clients at the end of the year. All this, plus a free initial client consultation, a Xero health check to establish the state of the current accounts, and we then DL helps to get it all up to date and correct. Even though the world is now fully digital, clients often ask Dexter and the team why they should use an accountant, and not simply do it themselves? The answer is simple, as Dexter explains, “Firstly, using an accountant ensures that the accounts are accurate and ensures that clients are claiming all of the expenses that they are entitled to. Secondly, we can advise businesses on the most cost-effective ways to expand and structure their business. Being a digital practice, Dexter is keen to align the firm with the project’s sustainable vision and love the bonds of community, which Nansledan works hard to achieve. As a local business, DL Accounts also offers sponsorship in the community and is currently sponsoring Godolphin AFC, alongside Harry Timson, a professional Newquay-based surfer, in his endeavours. For all of its hard work, as well as its pioneering approach to accountancy, DL Accounts recently gained recognition in the Southern Enterprise Awards 2022 and was rewarded with the prestigious accolade of Accountancy Firm of the Year 2022 – Cornwall, and it’s not hard to see why.
