The home was awarded the prestigious title of Best Nursing Care Enterprise in Oxfordshire, and Paul is understandably proud of this achievement. He shares, “We are now focusing on shaping a warm living environment for all our service users with no barriers, no matter their clinical/ mental status,” he states, speaking of the future. “All this, while aiming to maintain a highly professional approach and open-minded vision regarding new challenges that the healthcare industry might arise.” Susan K is the daughter of not one, but two dementia residents at Burford Nursing Home. She shares her experience with us. “My mother has been in Burford Nursing Home for the past 18 months, and despite commencing a ‘reign of terror’ within the home for a few weeks upon her initial admittance, she has settled in amazingly well, and considers the place to be home. The staff managed her very well, and despite her maverick antics, they were all very kind to her. In conjunction with the Doctor, they have adjusted her medication and she is the happiest she has been in years. “My father then developed dementia, and the staff offered advice and guidance on his management and told me to ring any time despite him not being in the home at that time. Dad went in on a permanent basis about 3 weeks ago. My parents visited my house for lunch on both Saturday and Sunday, and after about 4 hours, Dad advised me he was ready to return home, meaning the care home! The food is amazing, and all the staff are incredibly kind to both me and my parents. An incredibly well managed care home!” Similarly, Becky F has nothing but praise for Burford after they cared for her late mother. “I would definitely recommend Burford Nursing Home to anyone who was looking for a safe, caring environment for their loved one. Mum moved into Burford just before Christmas 2019 and a few months later Covid happened! During the lockdown period, the home was so supportive, arranging telephone calls, video calls, and keeping us regularly informed of how she was during the time we weren’t able to visit. Nothing was ever too much trouble. Every member of staff became her family and showed such love and compassion. Any concerns or worries I had were Placing a loved one into a residential home can be scary and daunting, along with the added feeling of guilt that they cannot stay at home. However, Burford Nursing Home removes all of that fear and trepidation by providing the highest levels of service, care and, of course, wonderful food too. We find out more from Home Manager, Paul Jacob, in the wake of it gaining recognition in the Southern Enterprise Awards 2022.
