SME News Southern Enterprise Awards 2023 | 110 Best Nationwide Fleet Support Services Company 2023 Southampton-based company, Nationwide Fleet Services (NFS) keeps fleet vehicles across the UK moving. The independently owned company offers 24/7 emergency breakdown services, servicing, tyre management, repairs, and MOTs. With a network of verified suppliers across the country and over 2,000 mobile tyre-fitting vans, the company makes looking after your fleet straightforward. We chat with Managing Director, Nick Diment to find out more. Keeping a fleet of vehicles moving is no easy task. Having an emergency repair and maintenance service on speed dial is essential to keeping the wheels turning. Maintaining vehicles in optimal condition helps to ensure the safety of not only the driver and passengers but also other road users. Well-maintained vehicles are more efficient too, helping to reduce operational costs and environmental impact. In the competitive UK marketplace, having a reliable and efficient fleet is the backbone of any logistics operation. Since 2018, Nationwide Fleet Services has been helping its clients to meet their fleet goals. With a dedicated team on hand to handle requests at any time of the day (or night), the company has earned itself a reputation for quality and reliability. Nick tells us, “Our primary focus is on tyre requirements. Whether that’s supporting our customers’ own workshop activity, full tyre management, remedial work, breakdown cover, or partnering with large fleet tyre providers to cover the requests they can’t.” The company’s mission is to offer a viable and reliable alternative to large providers. To do this, NFS uses the services of its verified network of independent tyre dealers and garages nationwide. With a list of clients that includes household names such as Royal Mail, Parcelforce, Secom, and Kwikfit, it’s easy to understand why NFS is fast becoming one of the go-to fleet maintenance partners in the UK. When asked about how NFS stands out from the crowd, Nick says, “For us, it’s all about trying our best to provide all the support our clients need. We stay alert, talk with our customers and suppliers, and take on board their feedback. If we need to change things, then we change them. We’re always looking for ways to improve our services.” By using intelligent technology, the team offers simple booking and first-class service. Using its own proprietary software system, NFS is able to capture and analyse customer vehicle data to its full advantage. With one of the latest trends being the move to electric vehicles, what differences is NFS seeing in its maintenance requests? Nick explains, “We hear a lot of debate about when electric is a good solution and when it isn’t. There’s been some discussion about tyres not lasting as well on electric vehicles. But in our experience, it’s more about how you drive the vehicle rather than the fuel it uses. A pothole is a pothole, after all. The big difference is the investment needed to support and repair electric vehicles. The lack of reliable charging points in some areas is impacting drivers and causing more breakdowns.” With the goalposts often changing in the industry, Nick’s focus is on maintaining a strong and dedicated team that he encourages to develop and grow. An example of this is encouraging the management team to set their own agenda and put their own stamp on the business. Looking to the future, Nationwide Fleet Services will aim to further expand its customer base and supplier network. The company is also researching upgrading its technology and automating its back-office processes.
