We speak to Founder and Principal/Creative Director Richard S. Meredith, about the academy and what it offers that makes it stand out from the rest. RSM Stage Academy provides professional training in Acting, Dance and Singing to students and clients of all ages in Wolverhampton, West Midlands. As a Performing Arts School, RSM Stage Academy has been running for more than 10 years and many of its students are now performing across the world. With fierce competition in the Performing Arts space, Richard has ensured that RSM Stage Academy has some unique selling points and key differentiators to ensure that it will always stand out from the crowd as a shining beacon for students. The dedicated team works with groups and individuals to really bring out the best in each and every student. Whether this is just a hobby, wanting to build your confidence and self-esteem, or you are serious about this as a career, we cater for all in our stunning premises.” RSM Stage Academy students and performers of all ages receive training in the three key disciplines of Performing Arts, namely Singing, Dance and Acting. Classes are taught in a variety of different ways to suit the broad variety of performers who come through its doors, whether that be in person or online. The structure of the training is a mix of Commercial and Musical Theatre genres. Instead of focusing directly on one or the other, this mixed structure broadens students’ knowledge, encourages versatility and shapes students into well-rounded performers. This means that when students make it to auditions, they know what is expected of them. An example of the classes on offer at RSM Stage Academy are Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Contemporary, Stage & Screen Acting, Musical Theatre, along with their 3-hour weekly Stage Academy Classes and the Adult Performing Arts Company. All staff and guest teachers hold an enhanced DBS check, along with having the appropriate level of relevant teaching qualifications and professional experience to ensure that students and clients are not only safe but taught in the best possible way. RSM Stage Academy organise at least two showcases per year. Over the years, students have been invited to perform in UK touring shows, West End theatres and local showcases. Students and clients have appeared in several iconic London venues, such as - Sadler’s Wells Theatre, the Royal Albert Hall, Her Majesty’s Theatre and indigo at The O2. More recent events have taken place at The Liverpool Empire Theatre and Alexandra Theatre in Birmingham. RSM have also had opportunities to perform at international events. These include performing in Spain and even on a Broadway stage in New York. RSM Stage Academy prides itself on these exceptional opportunities and it doesn’t stop there. RSM also offer special Guest Workshops throughout the year with leading professionals such as – Layton Williams (Star of Stage & Screen), Ruth Carney (TV Director for Emmerdale & Casualty), Sam Callahan (X Factor & Artist) just to name a few.
