UK Enterprise Awards 2022

117 | UK Enterprise Awards 2022 Food is always a big conversation starter, and 2 Much Passion is a great topic of discussion. 2 Much Passion is non-profit organisation determined to put good food and the knowledge of how to make it in the hands of the people of Birmingham and beyond. Here we explore its work as it wins this excellent accolade. A non-profit organisation dedicated to using food as an outlet to bring people and communities together, 2 Much Passion CIC is a Birminghambased organisation founded in 2016, committed to teaching and creating delicious meals and projects within its local community. Under the direction of founder Vanessa Kelly, 2 Much Passion provides training, support, and workshops to charities and community groups to ensure the proliferation of best practices and that expertise in the field of catering and community cooking is passed on. Even offering classes for people as young as five, in line with its overall vision of ensuring every child, young person and adult has the opportunity to learn how to cook healthy, nutritious and culturally aware meals. Regardless of financial or environmental issues, Vanessa and her team want to reduce food poverty by cooking fresh meals from scratch Its works towards that vision by contributing heavily to the local community. An example was its support of families across the City by providing 1600 food boxes during the spring half-term. Including ingredients, a recipe book, and job opportunities for young people and care leavers. The passionate team of chefs, catering assistants and volunteers, are the backbone of the company’s accomplishments. 2 Much Passion’s overall goal is to instil the next generation with the same passion for food and cooking as its team has. Using the years of collective industry experience the team has, it provides an arrangement of Apr22533 Community Engagement Initiative of the Year – West Midlands product services and online courses that will help shape and nurture future generations cooking and eating habits by teaching the fundamentals of cooking and the health benefits of a homecooked meal and good ingredients. It is a strong proponent of the ‘health is wealth’ maxim, especially during the pandemic when money and personal health were of more significant concern. As money got tighter and more began to rely on the food bank to make ends meet, 2 Much Passion made itself available by crafting project programmes that supported families with cooking and provided a long-lasting skill set for cooking nutritious meals. The future sees growth beyond the West Midlands for 2 Much Passion, plans to expand into surrounding areas and develop a mobile catering restaurant. It will be keeping busy through the rest of 2022. In Easter, the team debuted its first mobile cooking school, delivering two days filled with cultural cooking recipes, a nutritional workshop and loads of great-tasting food. Making good on its dreams for the year and further differentiating itself in the industry as 2 Much Passion is in the most culturally diverse city in the UK and firmly believes that, through food, we learn about other cultures and brook conversations on our similarities and differences. That through food, people can build confidence and bring about friendships. It is a heart-warming perspective, combined with its ambitious vision and a strong team of industry experts who have proven it is more than capable of carrying it out.
