The Covid-19 pandemic saw The Bike Barn experiencing extremely busy times, not simply on the hire side, but also with the sales and servicing side too as people took to their bikes in order to stay fit and keep active. “We couldn’t build them and repair them fast enough at one point!” exclaims Jayne, telling us that a typical working day in lockdown could end up being 15-16 hours long. “Once we re-opened the hires after lockdown, we were inundated due to staycations and day-trippers. We really are so grateful for the business we are in; things could have been so different.” Recently, The Bike Barn was recognised for its diligence and hard work in the UK Enterprise Awards 2022 and bestowed with the esteemed title of Cycle Hire Business of the Year – Derbyshire. And now, the future is looking bright for Jayne, John, and the team, as they have plans for future growth on the horizon. “Our long-term hopes are to expand the business to allow us to have a larger hire fleet, a larger showroom for our sale bikes and more capacity for accessories, servicing and repairs.
