This award is not only testament to Sarah and India’s hard work, but also to the lasting legacy that Sarah’s parents left. The future is looking promising for the dynamic duo. India, a fully qualified groomer, has just opened up her own salon, Dog Grooming by India. India sees this as an opportunity to educate people on the importance of good grooming, and how it is essential to a dog’s overall wellbeing, especially those with heavier coats. She will also be championing the Jandaz brand of premium grooming products too, which promise a healthier, happier hound. Sarah says “We aim to produce products that are safe and healthy for both pets and owners. The products help reduce allergies and provide protection against micro-organisms on pets and also within the home. They help to soften, soothe and calm sensitive, irritated, dry, itchy, and flaky skin, control odour, and ensure a healthy and shiny coat.” Now, Sarah and her daughter India are looking forward to growing the brand, while always keeping its passion and ethos in their hearts. Now, sadly they are no longer with us, but their daughter, Sarah, has taken over the family business, Jandaz Cockapoos, ensuring that their love of the celebrated breed continues. We find out more from Sarah in the wake of the business being awarded a UK Enterprise title by SME News. Crossed between a cocker spaniel and a poodle, the ‘Cockapoo’ dog is known to be an even-tempered, loveable small dog with a big personality. It comes as no surprise that people love them so much. Daughter of Founders Janice and Darrel, Sarah tells us a little more about her parents, and their business, Jandaz, which was established by the couple in 1979. “My mother bred her first litter of cockapoos some 20 years ago and she never looked back!” she enthuses. “Over the years, we have bred some truly outstanding examples of the breed using top quality blood lines and producing some pure reds.” Sadly, Darrel died in 2019, and just six months later, Janice also died. Despite tragically losing both parents, Sarah wanted to continue the business and, with the help of her own daughter India, continue her parent’s passion and legacy. “We want to share the knowledge and experience we have to help and educate people. We are both dog lovers and passionate about our cockapoos. We offer free help and advice to everyone, as it can be a bit of a mine-field out there with differing opinions on what is right and wrong.” Jandaz specialises in breeding American and English cockapoos. Sarah explains that all Jandaz puppies are fully vaccinated before they leave – as well as having all the necessary health testing. The business even offers its own range of Jandaz dog products, such as shampoos, balms, ear cleaners, and coat detanglers, to ensure all pooches stay clean and healthy. As part of their first-class service, Jandaz also offers a lifetime of help and advice for all of its puppy owners. Sarah explains “It’s not just about selling puppies. It starts with explaining about the different types of cockapoos and finding out about a potential owner’s life style and what they are looking for in a puppy.
