Finance Awards 2020

17 | Finance Awards 2020 Headquartered in London, Camdor Global Advisors is a specialised advisory firm providing investment and risk solutions to its clients. Having recently found success in SME News’ UK Finance Awards, we caught up with Bob Swarup to find out more about the firm and how it earned the accolade Most Innovative Investment & Risk Advisory 2020. Founded in 2015, Camdor Global Advisors aim to bridge the gap between short term success and innovation through a deep understanding of regulatory constraints and the ever-complex investment world. Going into further detail, Bob begins by providing us with a brief overview of the firm and offers us more of more insight into its clientele. “Camdor Global Advisors provide investment and debt advisory services that seek to help local authorities, pension funds and other institutional investors assess potential gaps and risks in their portfolios. Naturally, our approach is comprehensive from high-level economic views through to asset allocation, borrowing advice, actual implementation, origination, structuring, advice on policy, environmental and social issues, and regulation.” Operating in the investment world can be a challenging experience, however through its experience and holistic approach to clients has allowed the firm to distance itself from the crowd. “Rather than adopting a one size fits all approach, our advice is centred around examining the bigger picture and distilling the growing complexities an investor faces today into simple actionable outcomes that are sensitive to their needs” Bob points out. “Clients can pick and evolve to fill key gaps as needed, and through this, we believe our clients save time and money, and focus on tangible outcomes. “Since our entry into the market in 2016, we have completed over 50 advisory assignments representing billions in assets for our clients across treasury, pensions, housing, and the wider balance sheet. Uniquely, we have experience not just across asset managers, but also direct assets, drawing on our experience and deep networks to help clients originate and structure the latter as needed. This is married to a deep understanding of balance sheets and liabilities, so we can help our clients make the right decisions Most Innovative Investment & Risk Advisory 2020 in their individual context. An important measure of success for us is client satisfaction. In this regard, nearly all of our clients have given us repeat business, and several have us on an ongoing, retained basis.” Rather than focusing on any qualifications a candidate may have, in recruitment terms the firm prefer to focus on the personal qualities of an individual, which Bob is keen to touch on. “Qualifications and well papered CV’s are not important. Instead, we are always looking for intelligent people, who are happy to focus and work independently, whilst never losing focus of the fact that we are all there to support each other. Those who succeed are the ones who can connect the dots, have a lifelong love of learning new things and are not afraid to try new things. This allows us to give our best service to clients, working with them to make sure their needs and timeliness are met and respected.” Despite the outbreak of COVID-19, the firm has still managed to prosper during these difficult and uncertain times, as Bob explains further. “COVID-19 has been a challenge for everyone, but we have focused on meeting the challenges of clients. As they face new challenges and navigate an ever-complex landscape (let’s not forget Brexit either), having trusted partners who you can work with to get you closer to your goals is important. For our side, our biggest source of pride is the fact our clients have seen no difference to the quality of our services despite being in a pandemic.” Looking ahead to what the future holds, Bob signs off by highlighting some of the exciting plans which lie in the pipeline for the firm in the years to come. “Like every company, growth is always a focus of ours, but we are also increasingly focused on value. In 2021, we will be unveiling new services to help us meet our clients’ needs, allowing them to assess their investments from an environmental and social standpoint. Additionally, we will place more of a focus on tracking a volatile economic environment and its implications for portfolios and balance sheets. But most importantly, we will begin to distribute a portion of our profits to social and environmental change, with our clients determining where that money can be put to best use in local communities as well as national initiatives.” Company: Camdor Global Advisors Contact: Bob Swarup Website: www.camdorglobaladvisors.com Nov20697
