Indeed, despite being a comparatively young firm, Whalley Home Improvements is an established family business, both literally and Going From Strength to Strength figuratively. ‘Whereas we were just numbers in a team at our old job, we are now a closeknit family,” Emma says of the team she has surrounded herself with. “I couldn’t have done it without the support of my staff.” Meanwhile, Emma also works closely with her real family as well, working in partnership with her husband, a joiner at Frank Fielding and Sons, to be able to offer clients complete home renovation services, encompassing everything but the plumbing. Emma and her husband have managed to pull off the impressive feat of offering an effective and extensive service that has become trusted across Lancashire in just twelve, very challenging months – all while shielding their threeyear-old son from the pandemic. Yet the hard work is paying off, as Emma witnesses the ‘phenomenal’ success of her business as it grows from strength to strength one year after its establishment. From accolades like the firm’s recent award at the SME Business Elite Awards 2021 to its five-star Corgi rating that praises both the superior quality of its windows and its professional and personal customer service, the rewards from a challenging first year are tangible.
