Southern Enterprise Awards 2022 | 39 Sep22213 Best Independent Fleet Support Provider 2022 Nationwide Fleet Services Ltd (NFS) is a privately owned business providing call centre and central billing services, via independent providers throughout the UK, to fleet operators of all vehicle types. The firm’s core offering is tyre related but in addition it also offers vehicle servicing, MOT testing and vehicle recovery services. “Our mission is to offer an alternative and to provide the right service when it is needed,” explains Nick Diment, the firm’s Managing Director. “Our core value is integrity in what we do. Lots has changed since we started but the basic requirement remains the same, and that is to offer customers a service that can be delivered when its needed.” Most of the changes that NFS has seen have been around how it interacts with customers and suppliers. Whilst the days of face-to-face meetings haven’t ended, the Covid-19 pandemic saw more online calls and meetings that are helpful in so many ways in today’s busy world. Today, the firm’s main USP is its service delivery, supported by short decision lines and Nick believes that the company’s customers appreciate being able to reach out to someone who can make a decision without referral, regardless of the issue or requirement. However, rather than working to outdo its competitors, NFS instead embraces them wholeheartedly. “We are a small business, and we not only compete but also work with much larger competitors,” elaborates Nick. “For example, Kwik Fit is competition for us, but also one of our key customers because we provide services they cannot, and they in turn have an overall offer to customers we cannot compete with.” It also, of course, comes down to cost and one of the main trends that Nick and the team are seeing is this firm focus on reducing costs, given the ever-increasing cost of living. This also results in the company experiencing an even greater need to reduce vehicle downtime as customers run either less or no spare vehicles, in order to keep their own costs down. It is, therefore, important that the entire team communicates effectively “As well as good communication skills, when recruiting we also seek the ability to follow the basic processes that everything we do starts with,” Nick states. “We train, update and offer one-to-one sessions to develop those that want or need it. But the one thing I want is for everyone in the business to work as a team – it gives the best results and provides the best service overall.” This teamwork is just one of the many reasons why Nationwide Fleet recently gained recognition in the Southern Enterprise Awards 2022 – and was bestowed with the title of Best Independent Fleet Support Provider. This is a prestigious accolade indeed considering the firm was only taken over in 2019, just before the Covid-19 pandemic hit. Now, the remainder of 2022 will be focused on customer retention and the search for new opportunities, as Nick enthuses, “We are just about to start a marketing campaign and we have high hopes of a good return from that.
