118 | UK Enterprise Awards 2023 Apr23123 Most Community-Focused Young Family Guide 2023 - East Midlands Being a parent is tough – that’s no secret – but often there’s not many resources to help alleviate those unique challenges. Which is surprising, all things considered. Saying that, there is one resource that has impressed and entertained in equal measure, becoming an open secret for those in the know. Lots for Tots. As a free magazine, it looks to showcase events, what’s on guides, vouchers and articles for parents of under-fives – sure to be a lifesaver for many at a time when everything and anything helps. Today, the magazine has become a wellloved household name and instantly recognisable to those within its distribution areas. “Our vision is to continue to get Lots for Tots out to as many families as possible across the UK. The success of Lots for Tots lies in it being produced from start to finish by a real parent, not a graphic designer or a big company, filled with – competitions, what’s on guides, vouchers and a range of articles relevant to all types of readers and their families, the magazine really is your guide to thrive with under-fives,” Beth explains in her opening comments. But, Lots for Tots isn’t just a magazine. It has recently launched a fortnightly podcast called Let’s Talk Tots, for all readers eager for more information and insight from the combined talents of Beth and her friend, Emily Edwards. “We’re two friends who together are navigating our way through this wonderful journey of parenting. The podcast covers pregnancy, birth and beyond, with some special episodes that showcase groups, charities and businesses which are available to support you in every step of life.” Not one to rest on her laurels, Beth is also planning to launch the first Lots for Tots show later this year on the 4th of November, as she moves onto discuss in more detail. “The Lots for Tots Show provides expectant parents and parents with children up until primary age, a great experience to meet the businesses and charities face to face. Throughout the day family members can get expert advice & demos on all things bump, baby and children – all under one roof. There will be a soft play area brought to you by Pitter Patter Play, character meet and greets and a mobile creche brought to you by Mini Minding Events. This really will be a fun day out for the whole family! There’s even more, Beth has just launched Lots for Tots Nottingham to accompany the incredible success of the Derby brand. “We’ve also just launched an online version of Lots for Tots for those parents in Nottingham. At the moment parents based in Nottingham can find out about events and businesses via the Lots for Tots website under the dedicated section or via social media. Our plan is to work towards being able to produce a physical magazine for Nottinghamshire.” Meet the Owner, Beth Wheatley. “I have 2 wonderful boys, Elijah & Ezra, so I’m no stranger to the Derby parenting scene. I am passionate for making sure Lots for Tots continues to showcase local businesses and services whilst supporting families on this wonderful journey of parenting. “Now with the Derbyshire magazine in full swing, a podcast underway and now the Lots for Tots show – we really do offer parents the full guide to thriving with an under 5 and beyond!” All in all, 2023 is sure to be a monumental year for the company – with the future truly defined by further success and expansion.
