8 | UK Enterprise Awards 2023 May23188 SME Engineering & Design Company of the Year 2023 - Wales Peter Abdulla founded Estavros Engineering (Estavros) back in 2010, a business venture where Peter has extraordinarily provided services as a contractor / consultant to major oil and gas engineering companies such as KBR, SBM Offshore, Jacobs and Worley where he contributed to serving the world’s giant oil and gas clients including Shell, Chevron, British Petroleum, Saudi Aramco and Reliance . Now, the company has grown significantly and is highly deserving of recognition within the UK Enterprise Awards 2023, so we sat down for a chat with Peter to learn more. With almost 20 years’ experience in the oil and gas industry, Peter Abdulla couldn’t be more versed for his role of Founder and Managing Director of Estavros Engineering. 13 years ago, Peter established is company and began providing consulting services to businesses within the oil and gas industry – and he hasn’t looked back. For over 15 years, Peter has been working on some of the world’s largest and most challenging projects, all of which has enhanced his technical experience and his passion for business. He is a qualified engineer with a bachelor’s degree in electronic engineering, in addition to being a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) and a member of the Institute of Engineering and Technology in the UK. By 2019, Peter was taking on bigger scopes of work and outsourcing of engineers to other organisation, bringing a team on board to help him execute projects and provide personnel to clients. He says, “I had the idea in my mind for a long time. I decided to go and exhibit the company at ADIPEC, the biggest oil and gas exhibition in the world which is held annually in Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates. I spent four days exhibiting the company and made some contracts.” As a result, things were getting really exciting for Estavros, but then around four months later, the COVID-19 pandemic caused everything to come to a grinding halt. Peter comments, “A lot of the projects we were speaking about just died – none of the projects that we’d been speaking about in 2019 actually came into fruition.” However, Peter is ambitious and tenacious, and he didn’t let this dampen his spirits. As the world began to return to the “new normal,” Peter still had his sights set on taking his business far. He states, “I still had the idea to network and talk about the company and discuss things with various clients, and then the opportunity came – when I signed an outsourcing contract and some lump sum contracts with one of the world’s largest oil and gas organisations.” He continues, “As my first major client, they could see value in what I could provide them and that’s when the business (Estavros) started growing.” Thus, Peter and Estavros Engineering began providing consultancy work and personnel to their major clients, taking on some lump sum contracts for stress analysis and other engineering work. “That was my breakthrough,” Peter tells us. “And I’m still providing them with about four personnel.” “I’ve dealt with a lot of the major oil and gas companies. Initially, I was providing consultation to big players like Foster Wheeler, Jacobs, and SBM Offshore.” Now, Estavros has contributed to many major projects around the world. Estavros provides various engineering design scopes within the oil and gas, refining, chemicals and petrochemicals across multiple disciplines including Control & Instrumentation, Process, electrical, mechanical, piping and structural stress analysis and much more We offer services in leading edge design software including: Services offered: • Technical and non-technical outsourcing. • Engineering design services (multidiscipline). • C&I • Electrical • Process • Mechanical • Civil design • Drafting • Piping Stress Analysis • Project Management • Much more. Engineering Software experience: • SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI) for Control and Instrumentation, • SmartPlant Electrical (SPEL) for Electrical design, • 3D Modelling in various tools, • SmartPlantFoundation (SPF), • SmartPlant P&ID (SPPID), • CAESAR II – Piping Stress Analysis, • ANSYS – Finite Element Analysis, and much more…… Industries served: • Oil and gas. • Refining. • Chemicals. • Petrochemicals. • Data Centres. • Rail. Not only did Estavros gain leverage thanks to its contacts, but it also wouldn’t be where it is today

UK Enterprise Awards 2023 | 9 SME Engineering & Design Company of the Year 2023 - Wales without its emphasis on hard work, commitment, transparency, honesty, and integrity. The company does business in a very transparent way; there are no hidden aspects or surprises, with it aiming to be competitive in a very transparent way. Its clients always know exactly the service they’re getting and how much it is going to cost, tailoring it exactly to their specific requirements and striving to provide added value. At Estavros, safety always comes first, too. It believes in keeping its team and clients safe while delivering the best possible service. Its people are its most valuable asset, whether an employee, customer, business partner, or supplier, ensuring everyone is treated with respect and that they are inevitably satisfied with their experience of Estavros. Peter goes on to share more about his team: “A lot of companies look for extremely experienced senior guys that have a lot of experience and knowledge behind them, which is valuable; I agree, but sometimes I find that an enthusiastic young person with the right attitude who is willing to learn and make the effort to go and research something can be just as good. “I look for that trait in people – having the enthusiasm to go and find out something and get the job done, regardless of if they have that particular experience or not. They’re willing to read, willing to ask people, network, and get the information they want and get the job done.” Now we’ve discovered what makes Estavros Engineering the outstanding and award-winning firm it is, there is undoubtedly a very bright future ahead of it, involving growth and continuing to deliver on its promises with integrity, and in a safe and timely manner. Peter gives us an insight into what that looks like. “I’m on the lookout to increase the recruitment and outsourcing side of the business to other companies and possibly other industries – that’s my strongest point at the moment – and also to take on further design projects in terms of engineering design particularly within the oil and gas, refining, chemicals and petrochemicals industries. We can offer multi-discipline engineering design services delivering world class engineering design deliverables using software tools that are at the leading edge of technology in par with the world’s tier one contractors. “ Estavros is more than capable and welcomes the opportunity to take on even more engineering design scopes independently or to execute scope of engineering design as sub-contracts from larger engineering companies. “It’s also in our plan to expand abroad, where we can be competitive in line with the industry trends where more and more companies are executing work outside of the UK.” Company: Estavros Engineering Contact: Peter Abdulla Email: info@estavros-eng.com Website: www.estavros-eng.com

10 | UK Enterprise Awards 2023 Most Inspiring Sight-Impaired Artist 2023: Annie Fennymore Annie Fennymore is an artist that was registered blind 21 years ago. After sadly losing her granddaughter, she found herself compelled to painting and, since, she has developed her own form of tactile art. We take a closer look at her story and how channelling her pain into art has led her to being recognised in the UK Enterprise Awards 2023. At 28 years of age Annie Fennymore realised that a prescribed drug that she had been taking was reducing the level of oxygen going to her eyes. She was told that by the time she reached her 40s she would have no vision. Once her sight was near to nothing, she discovered she had bilateral cataract, which she was treated for but left scaring. Later, she had a fall that damaged her neck and hip, which left her unable to walk until three months later. As if that on its own wasn’t enough for one person to go through, Annie lost her granddaughter. As her vision disappeared and her world surrounded her with pain, she found strength to keep moving forward and accept the hurdles she now had to face. It was not an easy journey, but painting became her therapy. Blind Alley Art was founded by Annie, and it is where she showcases her very own tactile art. To create the wonderful pieces, she uses acrylic paints and raised mediums like – acrylic lava gel, sculpting pastes, adhesive grouting, a glue gun, cardboard, and more. You may wonder how she is able to make this happen. The process begins by Annie visualising the painting in her mind, once her idea is set, she creates a backdrop. Once that is dried, she uses Blue Tack to mark the subject and fills in the area with the mediums above. Annie does this using her fingers, and occasionally uses a brush for backgrounds and larger canvases. In terms of colour, she has talking electronic aids that read out the colour of the tubes. When she was introduced to these it transformed her paintings as she was able to incorporate more colour than ever before. For Annie, art is not meant to look like a photograph, it doesn’t need to be perfect. As long as the subject is clear, it just needs to make sense to the person who is viewing it. It is all about perception and for each person it may mean something completely unique to them. The techniques that she has incorporated throughout the years has enabled her to bring to life beautiful art for many to enjoy. Especially as tactile art enables the visually impaired to be able to interact with art through touch. Annie has shared her methods and techniques which are now carried out in the art and craft team for Blind Veterans, Brighton. In Essex, she leads her ‘Paint on…’ monthly art groups in Clacton on sea, and Colchester. On top of teaching and sharing her ways, she supports Royal Marines Association and one of her paintings ‘Poppies’ is on sale as a greeting card from https://royalmarinesshop.com/. The money all goes to the association to support those serving, injured, and the elderly. In addition, she has taken her work into schools and universities, worked with children with disabilities, adults with learning difficulties, and volunteered with Essex Sight, and Deaf/Blind U.K. Her work has been recognised and praised by artists. A portrait that she did of her Guide dog Amber won the Hellen Keller International Art Award in 2011 which was a confidence boost and pushed Annie to further develop her artwork. Annie had her first London exhibition at Sunbury Embroidery Gallery which was founded and supported by Arts Council England. Currently she regularly exhibits her art, followed by a talk at the Moorfields Academy who is made up of people that are involved in the care and health of eyes. Blind Alley Art represents that pain can create something beautiful and that if you look beyond the obstacles and the reasons why you can’t, you will find yourself surprised at what you are able to accomplish. The heartbreak that led her down this path, the patience, the strength, and the dedication that it has taken for her to show up year after year and make the best of what she has is truly inspiring. Annie’s perception on what she has gone through has enabled her to build something that others can look up to. She has adapted and accepted what life had put before her and as something ended, she focused on what could begin. It is fair to say that Annie inspires all of those who come across her work and her story, which is why it comes to no surprise that Annie has recently been awarded with Most Inspiring Sight-Impaired Artist 2023. We can all learn from the wisdom that Annie shares and what her art represents. If you are interested in buying one of her pieces, attending her upcoming exhibitions, or you are inspired by her story, head over to the Blind Alley Art website to find out more. UK Enterprise Awards 2023 | 11 Most Inspiring Sight-Impaired Artist 2023: Annie Fennymore

12 | UK Enterprise Awards 2023 Apr23142 Most Client-Focused Marketing & PR Agency 2023 - West Midlands Working predominantly within the travel, leisure, eco-business, and fitness industries, Culminate has established itself as one of the best in the business. Of course, the weight of that reputation rests firmly at Georgina’s feet, driven by her expertise and experience. At the forefront of Culminate’s core messaging is disruption – a need to change the hyper competitive marketing and PR space for the better. Today, if you need PR, digital marketing, or social media management, you can’t do better than Culminate and Georgina. “I have significant experience working with a range of stakeholders from multi-national organisations to boutique brands. Having lead the development of social media, public relations and marketing strategies for startups, SME’s and large brands. As someone who has often been the only female in the room while decisions are being made, I want to allow girls and women to know they can make a difference, especially in traditionally male dominated sectors, like sport and fitness. This has been a key mission of mine since launching the business last year. In accordance with this I also support women in sport - sponsoring a female footballer in her journey to professionalism, and sponsoring Severn Stars Super League Netball Team.,” Georgina explains in more detail. As a disruptor, it is important for Georgina to work with clients that understand her values and approach entirely. After all, exceptional results can only be achieved by seamless collaboration and communication. A partnership, with both parties on the same page at all times. This extends to Culminate’s client onboarding, with Georgina making a point that she will only accept clients she knows she can help through her expertise. “Being honest from the outset is my philosophy, does the client have a good hook, or do we need to explore other elements of the business to get the best results for them.” Working with eco and green businesses, it also won’t be a surprise to learn that Georgina holds sustainable values in high regard also, as she moves on to discuss. “For me planet before profit is vital, we need to make decisions based on preserving the planet and making it better for future generations not how much money we can make. Similarly, looking forwards, wellness will be the core of my staff and employment strategy, full flexibility, and trust are the vital elements I carry through my business. Trusting to know the job will be done whether it takes 2 hours or 2 days!” It’s no secret that the marketing and PR worlds are undergoing vast changes at the moment – and for the foreseeable future. As a disruptor, there’s certainly an element of Georgina’s work which looks to ignore such trends, but naturally, it also pays to be aware of any trends currently gripping the market. “For PR we are seeing more and more the focus being on something interesting and newsworthy rather than just the relationship the PR professional has. With digital journalism being ever growing we see more and more opportunities for coverage for clients, and todays mummy blogger could be tomorrows broadsheet editor, so for me you need to explore new opportunities as you never know where it will lead in the future. “Also we have to mention the growth in podcasts and vlogging! Goodness this is booming, and great to have the opportunity for my clients to get their voices heard. The impact for me is building knowledge and relationships in the podcast space, learning which are viable options and which are flash in the pan podcasts with very few listeners. But with any PR coverage, it is great to get the host talking about you and your business.” Moreover, being based in the UK has also offered many benefits to the way that Culminate conducts its work, allowing for freedom of expression that Georgina has capitalised on. “All of my clients are UK based, and looking to build their UK business by building their brand awareness and developing greater opportunities either in their local community or across the country. In the UK we are very fortunate to have the opportunity to be free with our PR and media, and take risks with our marketing that can pay off in the most wonderful ways,” she adds. One of the prominent benefits of the modern digital landscape is that it has empowered masters of their craft to detach themselves from larger establishment and go alone, unencumbered by corporate processes. Georgina Evans Goodrich, Founder of Let’s Culminate (Culminate), is one such master. We spoke with her on the back of the company’s success in the programme to find out more.

UK Enterprise Awards 2023 | 13 So, with all of this in mind, what does the future hold for Culminate and Georgina? For the next year I want to continue the growth I am seeing currently, continue to secure fabulous coverage for my clients and work with new business to promote the best of British sustainability.” As part of their core values, Let’s Culminate and Georgina have spent considerable time pursuing charitable endeavours. Here, she talks through her volunteer roles in more detail. “I’m a Netball Volunteer Coach, creating my own club and coaching three teams in the West Midlands as a volunteer. Helping inspire and encourage more and more women to get into sport, promoting their mental health and the physical health benefits of exercise and as part of a team. I also volunteer with Cinnamon Trust as a dog walker for individuals that want to keep their four legged friends at home at the end of their lives, while facing debilitating illnesses. I am a volunteer on the Board of Trustees for Tumaini Jipya - New Hope, supporting their marketing and PR along with fundraising. 14 | UK Enterprise Awards 2023 May23325 Most Innovative Subsidence Repair Service 2023 - Northampton Innovation fuels numerous industries, manifesting in various ways to drive and serve experts, leaders and start-ups towards best practices. When it comes to the construction and property space, there’s one innovation which has made a dramatic impact on the sector, resin injection. Here, Resin Injection Technology Ltd has become a standout – we spoke with Director Karl Scott to find out more Let’s start from the top as it seems to be the most obvious place to start with this relatively niche industry. So, what exactly is resin injection? In essence, it is the practice of injecting resin into groundworks – mainly filling the cracks in concrete – to reinforce the foundational structure and ensure stability on further building works. In Karl’s own words, he describes the Resin Injection Technology Ltd team as “foundation and ground strengthening specialists,” but that barely scratches the surface of their work. Here, Karl begins by explaining the company’s offerings in more detail. “We are providing subsidence repair with an excavation free method. Our resin injection technology is a more efficient alternative to the traditional method of underpinning. Our mission is to create a cost effective environmentally friendly method to the traditional underpinning method.” “We are constantly striving to provide a cost effective and less invasive method to support our clients in their projects with structural movement.” Construction is an industry which will never experience a significant slowdown. Demand is steady, and constant. With that demand, comes an ever-present need for improvement, development and innovation. To ask questions such as: is there a way to do this faster? More efficiently? More cost-effectively? Is there a way to do this job more sustainability? To use less material? To ensure stability for longer? There are thousands of companies asking those questions and endeavouring to answer them with better and better solutions. Naturally, this innovation driven mission has set the path that the team now travel down. By offering services that are cutting edge and practically peerless, Resin Injection Technology Ltd has swiftly differentiated itself from any potential competitors and become a pacesetter in this emerging landscape. Karl moves on to discuss the company’s values. “Resin Injection Technology’s values are to help our clients with the most cost effective and non-disruptive method to their property. We offer a full service from start to finish and continue to monitor the works completed for 5 years.” All of this is fuelling the company’s growth, success and importance in the industry. The latter is certainly becoming more relevant as the technology matures and gains momentum as best practice. “We are noticing more and more subsidence claims and issues being rejected by insurers meaning demand for public and insurance based claims are going up,” Karl adds. With everything in consideration, the future of Resin Injection Technology Ltd will rely on continuation. A continuation of the company’s current trajectory, core values and mission. It perhaps goes without saying, but the team will naturally prove to be a deciding influence on the company’s ability to fully capitalise on the seemingly limitless success it is positioned to claim. Karl continues to discuss his approach to recruitment and its role in nurturing the internal culture. “What we look for in our staff is a great attitude, great work ethic and a willingness to learn. We provide a full training and education system of our technology, which is unique. Professional growth is offered and shown in our track record of staff progressing through to higher roles and this is something we will continue to do in the future.” For now, as aforementioned, the future of Resin Injection Technology Ltd lies in expansion and progress as it looks to develop and explore the possibilities of this exciting new technology. In his closing comments, Karl concludes on the benefits of 2023 and offers a touch more insight in what lies beyond. “2023 has been a good year for growth and we will continue to push on to deliver and innovate in the future.” All in all, industries rely on innovation and for companies of all sizes to dream of constant betterment. As construction is one of the world’s largest industries, it’s an impressive feat to build a reputation for innovation on the greater landscape. But that’s exactly what Resin Injection Technology Ltd has achieved, and for that, it deserves all of the recognition it can receive. For all of this, the company has been awarded the title of Most Innovative Subsidence Repair Service of the Year in the UK Enterprise Awards hosted by SME News. UK Enterprise Awards 2023 | 15 Most Innovative Subsidence Repair Service 2023 - Northampton

16 | UK Enterprise Awards 2023 Most Outstanding Dental Practice 2023 - Worcestershire Tenbury Dental Centre has become well known across Worcestershire for delivering a caring, modern, family practice. The question is how? Well, we spoke to Director Vishal Patel to find out why the clinic has been overwhelmingly recognised as the ‘Most Outstanding Dental Practice’ in the region. Established in the 1970s, Tenbury Dental Care has become a stalwart of the community through a dedication to best in class practices that have been honed over the last 50 years. While it is easy to overlook the importance of such establishments, the time should be taken to emphasise the way that the access to exceptional dental care has shaped the clinic’s local community. Tenbury Dental Care has certainly made its mark on the people it treats and remained committed to delivering next generation services, as Vishal takes a moment to explain in more detail. “Our aim is for our patients to maintain good dental health so that they may keep their teeth for life with as few fillings as possible in strong healthy gums. We have expanded our services to provide more advanced treatments including advanced teeth whitening, smile makeovers with crowns veneers and specialised oral surgery procedures including dental implants (simple to complex).” This is important, as it would be all too easy for the clinic to stagnate on the back of its age, or simply choose to settle behind larger industry trends. It’s clear from the outset that this is certainly not the case here, with all efforts made to remain cutting edge. “We use the latest digital technology including digital X-rays and intra-oral scanners which allow us to capture and record patients’ dental records. Rather than using traditional analog impression, intra-oral scanners have enabled a wand like device that assists with achieving accurate records and sending them electronically to any lab in the country. We are passionate about dentistry, and are also investing into a 3D CT scanner (CBCT) which will allow us to take accurate Xray images of the jaw in slices so that we can identify vital structures like nerves and sinuses etc prior to placing implants. Being in a rural location, we are currently having to refer these patients for these scans, this will all change in the near future after the renovations.” “Our main mission is to provide exceptional quality of dental treatment which is affordable for the local community whilst at the same time giving patients the best experience.” It’s also important to recognise that the future of dentistry very much lies in smaller, more localised, independent clinics, rather than the larger mainstays – as is the case across a plethora of industries. These smaller clinics are expert-led, and driven to change the communities they settle in. “The future of dentistry is about small business individuals that own and run a practice to provide patient care rather than big corporates that may view patients as numbers and targets,” Vishal adds. With this in mind, Tenbury Dental Care endeavours to be led absolutely by its core values, which – as you can imagine with everything that has been said so far – are innately patient-centric. This will serve the clinic well moving forwards, as dentistry continues to shift and adapt to changing trends and patient expectations. “Currently there has been a big shift of patients wanting more cosmetic treatment than ever before. This includes anything from teeth whitening, smile makeovers to clear aligner orthodontics such as invisalign. Patients are much more aware via online research of the range of treatments available. This has increased the responsibility of the dental profession to cater and meet these demands but in the most ethical way.” Naturally, the team play a key role in all of this, as Vishal moves on to discuss. “Regarding our team, we look for genuine caring professionals that can prove a level of competency and are motivated together as a team. We ensure we have experts in different facets of the business. We have also trained and developed multiple trainee dental nurses through

UK Enterprise Awards 2023 | 17 apprenticeship programmes to become competent in their role. We encourage our staff members to strive by supporting their education and further development in their respective roles. We have regular meetings and appraisals coupled with bonuses to motivate our staff to strive to help progress our business and its values.” Ultimately, when it comes to the future, the clinic is looking to make use of its current construction and renovation projects which looks to expand the space to accommodate for its growth and burgeoning patient-base. Here, Vishal concludes in his closing comments. “Currently we have two clinical operating rooms only. We have started a major construction and renovation project to carry out a loft conversion for a large staff room, office and storage facilities. We are also carrying out an extension into the garden to double our capacity to 4-5 clinical Most Outstanding Dental Practice 2023 - Worcestershire rooms. Furthermore we are installing a CBCT scanner which will be an invaluable asset for the local community that cannot get access to such technology in rural areas. All the operating rooms will be revamped and future proofed to enable the dentistry and patient care to be carried out at its best. It will also give a relaxed atmosphere for our patients to walk into.” Contact Details Company Name: Tenbury Dental Centre Contact Name: Vishal Patel, Director Address: Tenbury Dental Centre, 32 Teme Street, Tenbury Wells, Worcestershire, WR15 8AA, United Kingdom Web Address: tenburydental.com Contact Email: Tenburydental@gmail.com Telephone Number: 01584810584
