UK Enterprise Awards 2023

52 | UK Enterprise Awards 2023 Best Aviation Recruitment Specialists 2023 Recrewit is a specialist recruitment consultancy operating in the engineering industry, focused on delivering first-class customer service to both candidates and clients. We spoke to Director Vincenzo Segnale for more insight into the company following its well-deserved win in the awards programme. From the outset, Recrewit has differentiated itself through a firm specialisation in the aviation, automotive and motorsport, marine and renewables industries. Naturally, it almost goes without saying that those specific industries require a honed expertise on both sides of the equation – the recruiters and the applicants. There’s no ‘winging it’ here. Expertise is the only thing that can guarantee results. And so we come to Recrewit. As recruitment specialists they have thrived in a space which only demands excellence across the board, as Vincenzo explains in his opening comments. “As recruitment specialists, we at Recrewit know that there isn’t a “one-size fits all” hiring process, so we adapt to our clients’ specific needs and requirements. We live by our core values: honesty, integrity, professionalism, and trust. With clients and candidates we look to build a long-term, solid, and trustworthy business relationship, always going the extra mile to seek to provide a consultative and proactive approach to our services. “We like to think our USP is our honesty: it’s everything to us. We want to be honest with candidates, and we want them to be honest with us. We use a lot of questions in our early interviews. We want to really understand what the client is looking for, and what the candidate wants from their next job, or their overall career.” Of course, the nature of these industries often requires relocation, for applicants to go above and beyond the normal parameters to secure that key position. Equally, all of the industries in which Recrewit operates are competitive and skills-driven – often resulting in headhunting for the best possible applicant. For Vincenzo, that’s a lot of pressure on the side of the recruiter, in having the trust from the client to deliver on every expectation. “We’re very aware that we’re asking a lot from people. Sometimes an engineer will uproot their entire life, moving themselves and their family around the world because we’ve told them the job we have is better than the one they have now. That’s a lot of responsibility, and we strive to live up to that with every conversation we have. We always start with honesty first. When we say, ‘based on what you’ve told us, this is the right move for you,’ we mean it. Our recruitment model is all based around partnership. We want our candidates to be happy. Otherwise, what’s the point?” “There’s no margin for error. We know we have a small talent pool to work with, so every call, every email has to be building those relationships, moving things forward.” Ultimately, it’s this focus on delivering an honest, experience-driven results that has driven Recrewit to an almost peerless position within the industries it operates in. For Vincenzo, the company has a core culture defined by passion, hard work, and ethical operations. Recruitment, after all, is human-driven, and relies on compassion and a crucial understanding of human nature – what makes people tick, what makes people a good candidate, what makes a candidate the best possible option. “In terms of elevating the landscape: we want to stand apart from other recruitment agencies by offering an honest approach. Ethics are a huge part of what we do, we want to bring the human touch back to recruitment. We know we won’t change the industry over night, but if we can make even the smallest difference in how people feel about recruitment, and what they can expect from the industry, that’s a step in the right direction. “When it comes to sales and recruitment, the single most important indicator of talent is the quality of placements. It’s better to recruit one
