136 | UK Enterprise Awards 2023 Apr23227 Most Supportive Residential Care Home 2023 - South Wales Built on a robust foundation of honesty, passion, dignity and respect, Serendipity’s team has forged the company into a place that is, overwhelmingly, comfortable and safe. A place of healing and support that, in Tracey’s words, “encourages hope, independence, and positive change.” Here, she takes a moment to explain in more detail. “Serendipity operates a specialist residential and supported living rehabilitation/setting specifically for individuals diagnosed with Serious and Enduring Mental Illness, Personality Disorders and complex needs, from the age of eighteen, whether they are forensic or non-forensic. We advocate the use of the recovery model, including outcome focused planning/support; encouraging individuals to reach their optimum level, whilst recognising each individual is unique.” In this, Serendipity is committed to working in partnership with those that enter into its support network, to allow them to work through the process at their own pace, and to eventually develop to their personal optimum level. Of course, this approach also relies on acquiring the best possible talent to help encourage the foundational values of the business now and as it continues to move forwards. For Tracey, the recruitment process is designed to only select those that will upskill and enrich Serendipity’s culture. Crucially, there’s also an organic mentorship between senior and junior members of staff, allowing the company’s values to permeate every aspect of the business and its operations. “We try and prioritise recruiting all senior members of staff from within our existing teams of capable support staff employed by the company. The senior staff members understand, uphold and ensure the company’s core values ensuring they are implemented by junior members into the working practice. They have the ability to lead the team and mentor junior staff members. Senior staff are fully involved in improving service provision within Serendipity, as well as promoting positive outcomes. Staff are empowered to make informed choices, we take care to embrace equality and diversity within our philosophy providing equal opportunities’ all for example; having respect for different races, cultures, religion and language,” Tracey adds. As aforementioned, Serendipity is built on a variety of crucial values. One of which is, passion. Passion fuels empathy and drives towards results. Ultimately, that’s how Serendipity has achieved what it has since its establishment, and why it has been recognised as award-winning in every aspect. “Serendipity employ Staff who possess a passion for working with people, are motivated towards enabling individuals, teaching new skills and enhancing independence, with the aim to improve their lives. Our staff understand and implement the company’s core values into their working practice; in essence continuously working in the best interest of the individual.” Company: Serendipity Care and Support LTD.
